Purity Conference Follow-up - Week 2 - Purity in Real Life

Purity starts in our heart and comes out in how we live.

Mark 12:30 tells us, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all of your mind, and with all of your strength...”

We prove our love for the Lord through obedience. We can evidence our love through purity of heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Heart - Your heart state, and what you love and believe, will impact every area of your life. Colossians 3:1-3, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”

Soul - The process of being purified starts at salvation and is life-long and essential.
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Mind - It is essential that you accept the Lord’s grace to control and purify your mind. 2 Corinthians 10:5, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

Strength - What you do is an outflow of what is in your heart and is so important. Romans 6:13, “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”

Application:
1. Ask the Lord for His help to live in purity. We cannot live a life of purity on our own - but, He promises to give us grace for all that He calls us to do. Ask Him for His grace daily.

2. Fill your heart, soul, and mind with pure things.
Stop and evaluate what you are reading, listening to, watching, and thinking about. Ask yourself, “Will this encourage me towards the Lord and purity, or draw me away?” Be purposeful in filling your life with pure things and things that will encourage you in purity and loving Jesus.
These things include: - Memorizing Scripture - Listening to pure music - Reading books that will encourage you in your relationship with the Lord and purity - Spending time with friends who are seeking Jesus and purity - Listening to sermons and attending conferences - and so much more!
Choose one of these things to focus on in a special way this week.

3. Make pure choices to live in a pure way - each moment of each day.
This includes what you think, what you say, how you act, your attitudes, and what you do with your body. Stop and ask yourself, “Is how I am living at this moment pleasing the Lord through purity?” Remember, you are living to please and see Him!!! Every action has consequences. So, today as you decide what to think about, listen to, look at, do, etc. remember Who you are living for and the results of living a life of purity (See Follow up Week 1). It is a daily choice that bears incredible fruit.

Memory verse: Mark 12:30,“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all of your mind, and with all of your strength...”

As a result, the Lord will bring incredible impact in your life and the lives of others - from now through eternity!

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

May the Lord bless you as you seek to know Him and live lives of purity! We are praying for you and seeking with you!!! It is so worth it.

March Girls Discipleship Gathering Report

During our March Girls Gathering we finished Amy’s teaching about "Witnessing and Gaining a Passion for Souls." After worshiping together, listening to Amy and sharing together we had the privilege of writing encouragement cards to women who are in prison. By God’s grace we were able to make quite a few and we were thankful to be able to witness in this way of God’s love for these women. We hope you can join us for our last Girls Gathering on April 24th from 10:00-12:30 at Vision of Glory Church. Even if this is your first time at a Girls Gathering we would love to see you there!!!

"Pure Heart" Conference Report - ND

Last weekend was the launch of the “Pure Heart” Purity Conference in Fargo, North Dakota.

We are continuing to stand in awe of what the Lord did. He moved in an evident way and girls, young women, and women responded to Him in longing to know Him and live lives of purity to His glory.

Amy spoke on: The Heartbeat of Purity, Purity in Real Life, Relationships, Your Future, and the Will of God, and A Call to Transforming Purity.

She also spoke on Friday evening to parents and young people on “The Power and Potential of Your Youth for God.”

It was an amazing group and the times of interaction during and after sessions were incredible. Many expressed the desire and need to be challenged in passionately following Christ and purity on a regular basis in light of all that we face encouraging us in the opposite direction.

We all came away with a new perspective and passion to embrace purity like never before. Our hearts are full of anticipation for what the Lord is going to do as a result! We are thrilled beyond words and give the Lord all of the glory!

We would love to have you join us for an upcoming “Pure Heart” conference! You can visit our website (www.lovingthelordministries.org) to find one near you in the coming months!

Purity Conference Follow-up - Week 1 - The Purpose of Purity

For Week 1 of the “Pure Heart” follow-up, we are going to focus on 3 elements of Session 1 - Purpose, Purge, and Pursue.

Purpose -
Do you remember the deepest purpose for purity - and for living? To “glorify God and enjoy Him forever,” right? We will never know true fulfillment unless we are fulfilling the purpose for which we were created! Yet, you cannot truly glorify God or enjoy Him unless you know Him!
It is so important that we are sure that we have first come to Christ for salvation and initial cleansing. Then, it is critical that we pursue a true relationship with the Lord - and that He becomes REAL to YOU! The more this happens, the more you will want to have a pure heart so that you can see Him clearly!
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matt. 5:8
When our heart is truly after the Lord and purity, we will desire not to see how close, but how far away, from sin we can get!

Purge -
It is so important you seek the Lord to reveal the sins, hindrances, distractions, and idols that are blocking the way of your relationship with Him - and then accept His grace to deal with them. See the seriousness of them - that they are hindering your relationship with JESUS - and don’t tolerate them!
- Sin (Disobeying God)
- Hindrance (Things that are holding you back from Christ and all that He has for you)
- Distractions (Things that are taking your attention from Christ.)
- Idols (anything that is taking the Lord’s rightful place in your heart)
Like you helped me list, these things can be:
- friends - hobbies - cell phone - internet/Facebook - clothes - money - guys - books - activities - use of time - movies - good things (like ministry) taking priority over the Lord
Receive the Lord’s grace to remove them - and then replace them with pure things that will encourage you in Him!
2 Timothy 2:22, “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

Pursue -
Remember that relationships take investment and pursuing! Every effort that you put into seeking the Lord will be rewarded - and is SO worth it!
Here is a review of some ways to deepen your relationship with the Lord:
- Make Him #1 priority - “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
- Devotions - For a special article on having devotions that change your life, you can visit the LTLM website under the “Encouragement” section.
- Reading His Word - This is where He speaks to you, shows you Who He is, how to live for Him, etc.
- Talking with Him (Prayer) - Remember to treat it like a conversation - 2 way vs. just talking TO God.
- Learning about Him - receiving teaching, reading books, listening to talks, etc.
- Journal - record what the Lord is doing in your heart, write prayers to Him, etc.
Ask yourself - “What are things that help increase love for Jesus?”
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

Seeking the Lord and purity through purpose, purging, and pursuit will bring powerful results in your heart, walk with Him, and life!

Remember, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matt. 5:8

Application:
- Purpose - Ask yourself, what is my motivation for purity? Ask the Lord for a deeper desire for a pure heart, so that you can see, know, and walk with Him like you were created to!
- Purge - Go before the Lord and ask Him to reveal the sins, hindrances, distractions, and idols that are blocking the way of your relationship with Him. Pray through them with Him, ask His forgiveness, yield them to Him, and ask for His grace to fill those areas with Himself!
- Pursue - Find one thing that you will focus on each day for the next week to help you grow in your relationship with the Lord. (Devotions, Scripture memory, Bible study, prayer, journal, etc.)

Memory Verse: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matt. 5:8

We would love to have you write and share testimonies of what the Lord is doing in your heart as you seek Him!

May the Lord bless you so richly as you allow your relationship with Him to be your motivation for life - and purity!

Encouragement Card Ministry - Elizabeth's Testimony

A little note of introduction from Amy - I asked my assistant Elizabeth to share about a special ministry that the Lord has given her through writing cards of encouragement. So many times the Lord has encouraged my heart through her cards. This is something that you can do from your home that can be a huge source of blessing and encouragement to others in their walks with the Lord!

~
Elizabeth writes:
I started writing letter’s when I was a young girl and loved especially receiving them!
I have continued to write letters but with a special purpose in mind and that is to be an encouragement to others. The Lord has shown me at different times who I am to write to and different Bible verses that would especially speak to their heart.

I have a precious friend who’s name is Anna and during the years she attended Bible school I wrote her letters. She mentioned to me a specific letter I had written that God used to speak to her in a special way. At the time of this letter, Anna felt like the people around her were misunderstanding her heart. The Lord used these Bible verses in the letter to bring encouragement to Anna, Ps. 62:7-8 “My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge." It was reassuring to Anna that God knew her heart and she could find refuge in Jesus.

Sending letters is a special blessing! Remember this small act of love in writing letters can be such a blessing to the people in your life! So, when you hear of somebody who is extra tired, sick, or going through a difficult time, think about sending a letter and ask God what you should write!!!

Announcing the NEW "Pure Heart" Purity Conference!!!

It is with great excitement that we announce the launch of the new purity conference for young women! This is a special conference for young women ages 12 and over and their mothers.

The topics we will cover include:

Session 1 - The Heartbeat of Purity -
The Lord has a far deeper purpose in purity than meets the eye. It is crucial that we understand the value of having a heart (and hence a life) that is so pure that we are clearly able to see, know, and glorify the Lord in the way for which we were created to. This is where true and lasting fulfillment is found. This is to be our motivation for purity, which should lead us to not see how close we can get to sin, but how far from it we can go.

Session 2 - Purity in Real Life -
How does true purity manifest itself in real life? What does it look like? We are going to cover what it means and looks like to love the Lord our God through purity of our heart, soul, mind and strength. We will cover what purity looks like in; heart (loving Christ above all), soul (having a clear conscience, not tolerating sin), mind (thoughts, etc), strength (actions, words, physical, and modest appearance).

Session 3 - Relationships, Your Future, and the Will of God -
We are going to look at a pure approach to relationships with young men, to considering marriage, and to trusting God for his best for your life. We will cover this with a challenge to live very area of life with our main purpose in life and in mind—glorifying God and enjoying Him forever!

Session 4 - A Call to Transforming Purity -
Once we have seen a picture of transforming purity, one thing remains; how YOU are going to respond? You are called to live a vibrant life of purity for Christ that glorifies Him, fulfills you, and blesses others. It is your decision and you will reap the results. How will you embrace this call and experience all the Lord has in store?

Conferences Scheduled:
~ March 19-20th - Fargo, North Dakota - Holiday Inn Convention Center
~ September 10-11th - Minneapolis, Minnesota - Bethlehem Baptist Church
~ October 16th - Sumas, Washington - Cedar Springs Retreat Center

Please visit the "Events" section of our website to find out more details on registering for a conference!

We invite you to contact us for more information on hosting a conference in your area!

January Girls Discipleship Gathering Report

At the last Girls Gathering we listened to a message by Amy called “Getting a Vision From the Lord for Your Life”. We all enjoyed this message immensely and God spoke to us in wonderful and special ways! We spent some time reading a list of ministry ideas that the Lord may want us to do in the coming year.

Here is a list of some of those things:

- Praying for people, missionaries, etc.
- Pass out Gospel tracts.

- Writing notes, sending e-mails, or making calls of encouragement in the Lord to others (friends, younger girls or children, pastor, missionaries, parents)

- Serving your family.
- Teaching your siblings Bible verses, doing a Bible study with them, praying together

- Be involved in ministry at church, when able.
Help with Sunday School, AWANA, in the kitchen, in the nursery, etc.
- Earn and find ways to save money so that you can support missions.
- Mentoring those younger than you (children, girls)
- Start a Girls Discipleship Group
- Sharing the Gospel

- Seek to be of help when you are at other people’s homes or at events
- Do all that you do for the Lord and His glory
...and more!

We had a very special time sharing prayer requests with each other and then committed to pray for each other during this month. What a blessing it is to be encouraged and supported in prayer by wonderful sister’s in Christ.

We would love for you to join us for the next Girls Gathering
February 13th from 10:00-12:30 at Vision of Glory Church as we hear Amy speak on "Witnessing and Gaining a Passion for Souls" and as we encourage each other on in Jesus.

A Young Woman of the Word

Are you a young woman of the Word?

The Lord has been showing me more and more each season of my life how crucial His Word (the Bible) is to every aspect of my walk with Him and life!

The three things that I have found to be so important are to:
- Be in it
- Have it in me
- Live in the reality of it in daily life

These are ways it can be real in our lives:

Read the Word:
Matthew 4:4, “...Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
- Be in the Word daily.
- Read it for what it is - the word of GOD to you!
- Read asking Him to speak to your heart.
- Ask Him to work what you read into your heart and life - and follow Him in obedience!

I have found it to be so important to be in the Word every day. Just like we need to feed our bodies to keep us alive, so we need to feed our souls with the Word of God! God speaks to you through it, you come to know Him more, and it shapes who you are and your perspective on life! We cannot afford to miss reading it!

Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Memorize the Word - and think about it through the day:
Colossians 3:16, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom...”
- Hide God’s Word in your heart and mind.
- Let it fill your mind and shape your thoughts. (That’s why it is so good to have it memorized - so you can think about it any time!) It often takes training and disciplining your mind to turn to the Word for a while to form a habit.

One way that is so helpful in memorization is to write the verse(s) that you are memorizing on a 3x5 card. This way you can carry with you, or put it in a place where you see it a lot. You can also find a friend to hold you accountable!
Luke 11:28, “...blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.”

Live out the Truth of it:
James 1:22, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
- Let it go from your head to your heart and come out in how you live.
- You live what you believe. What you base your life upon will be evident by the fruit of your life.
- Live each moment in the reality of the truth of God’s Word.

For me it has been saying, “I KNOW this is true, but I need to walk in the reality of it in how I live each moment.”
A beautiful way to make this really personal is to take a verse and to insert your name into it.
“The Lord is (your name)’s Shepherd, (your name) shall not want.” Psalm 23:1
So, today as I think about the coming week in light of that verse, I know I will not lack anything, because the Lord is my faithful Shepherd. I just want to cling closely to Him!

John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

So, together, let’s be in the Word, let the Word be in us, and accept the Lord’s grace to live in the reality of it every moment of our lives!

Let’s be young women of the Word, friends!

John 14:23, “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

December Girls Discipleship Gathering Report

At the last Girls Gathering we had a wonderful time of singing carols, reading and thinking about the miracles surrounding Jesus’ birth, and we had a special time of sharing together. One of the main aspects that we found as we read miracle after miracle was that most of the people that were asked by the Lord to go some place or do something obeyed God immediately, not delaying at all. It was amazing to see this obedience displayed over and over again. May we all be quick to obey our Lord at whatever He beckons us to do!

We would love to see you at the next Girls Gathering, so mark your calendar for January 9th at 10:00-12:30 at Vision of Glory Church in Plymouth. Blessings in Jesus!

The Gift of the Heart

Christmas is such a special time of the year! Why do we celebrate? Why is this time so wonderful? It is all rooted in the deep meaning of Christmas. CHRIST. Jesus truly is, "The reason for the season." Yet, if we are very honest with ourselves we will admit that we can so easily get caught up in all of the activity around us, the things we need to do, and the places we need to go. As a result, we can so easily miss the purpose that we celebrate this special time of the year.

A few Christmases ago, I was thinking about what I was giving to people for Christmas. As I thought, it came to my heart to ask the Lord what HE wanted for Christmas. So, I asked the Lord, "Lord, what do You want for Christmas?" I remember Him saying, "I want your heart." My heart. The throne of my life, my affections, my will... This throne so rightly belongs to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, deserves to sit on the throne of my heart, as I humbly bow at His feet.

Yes, the Lord does not care so much about all of the decorations and packaging. He cares about the heart. The Lord looks right beyond the outward decorations to what really matters. "...for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7 We can put all the effort we want to decorating and wrapping the outside of a box, but if there is nothing inside it will be of little worth. How easily we can put our effort, attention, and heart into the outward decorations of Christmas. This often ends up resulting in an empty feeling even amidst the activity of the season. But, if Christ truly has our heart and is the heart of why we are doing these things, then the activities can be a special avenue to worship, celebrate, and know Him more! The festivities that surround His birth will not be distractions, but will burst forth with meaning and will serve as reminders of our Savior. The decorations of the coming of the King, the gifts of the greatest Gift, the lights of the Light of the world... What matters most and makes all of the difference is where our heart is at! Someone once said, "The heart of the issue is the issue of the heart." The state of our heart dictates, motivates, and affects our actions. Proverbs 4:23 tells us, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." If Christ has our heart, He will impact all that flows out of it and the results will be incredible.

My friend, the Lord wants your heart for Christmas. A heart that views each situation in life as a gift that will allow it to know Christ more, a heart that beats for the Lord with a love that nothing can quench, a heart that seeks to please Him, and a heart that longs to share Him with a hurting world. He wants to be the focus of our hearts, the reason that we sing, the purpose that we live, and the object of our affection. He wasn’t born with the purpose that we would fill the season of His birth with activity, He came so that we could find the complete fulfillment of a relationship with Him.

I believe with all of my heart that this complete fulfillment in our relationship with Him is what He most wants to give to each of us this Christmas. The gift He is asking us to give Him is our hearts. I am praying that as we give Him our hearts and embrace His gift to us, we will have the most treasured Christmas we’ve ever known.

May Christ be the heart of our Christmas and may we give Him our hearts every day that we live.

Verse: "...for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

Challenge: Give the Lord your heart afresh today. Set your focus on Him. Seek to find a regular time in your day (Both during Christmas and throughout the year) to check up on yourself and make sure that Christ is the heart of why you are living.

Merry Christmas!

Dear Friends,

Merry Christmas! I hope that you have had a wonderful month and that you are having a meaningful Christmas season. This time of year is always so special to me. It seems to grow even sweeter the more I come to know and love the One Who’s coming we celebrate! To think that He came out of such love, to endure such pain so that we could have a personal relationship with Him if we would accept the gift of His salvation! Such love calls for all that we are! The article I am posting covers something that has been stirring in my heart recently and I pray that it will be an encouragement to you.

You are in my prayers as you continue to seek the Lord and find Him to be the greatest treasure in the world! Have a wonderful Christmas rejoicing in the Lord’s great love for you!

Much love in the One we celebrate,

Amy Vest

Finding True Life in Surrender

Never stop short of total surrender to God.
Surrender means to, “yield, give up, submit, relinquish...”
The world, the flesh, and the devil all try to make us think that if we totally surrender all that we are and own to the Lord, we will be miserable. But the reality is just the opposite.
The secret to finding true life is to die to ourselves and allow Christ to fill us and live through us!

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

~ Matthew 16:24-26

As we surrender our self to the Lord (our will, desires, dreams, loves, things we are holding onto), He is then able to fill us and use us in ways that are beyond our wildest dreams and the make an impact that reaches through all eternity.

It is a step that we take to surrender our lives to Christ and then it is a day-by-day, moment-by-moment choice that we must accept His grace to make for the rest of our lives.

When we “lose” our life in surrender, we truly “find” it in all it was meant to be!

Sisters, let’s not settle for anything short of TOTAL surrender!

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Dear Friends,

You are always close in heart and we hope you are doing well in the Lord!

The Lord has been doing so much in the ministry and in bringing things together for upcoming days of ministry over the past weeks. He is amazing. We can’t wait to update you!

Upon returning from the last conference, there was a flurry of activities and now currently, I am just recovering from 12+ days of the flu. Now we are catching up and preparing for the coming year with great anticipation for what the Lord has in store!

The Lord has used all of the events of the past weeks in a powerful way and has been doing a deep work in my heart… and I have seen afresh how He has so much He wants to teach us every day, if we will only listen and let Him work! I am so excited to share more in the days to come.

We rejoice in what the Lord has been doing in your hearts and are so excited for all that He has in store for seeking Him together in the days ahead! Know that we are praying for you and we love you very much.

On to love our Jesus more together!

“When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”
Psalm 27:8

Your sister in Him,
Amy

Nothing satisfies like Jesus.

November Girls Discipleship Gathering

At the last Girls Gathering we watched Amy's session from the "Changing Your World for Christ" series and discovered “Secrets to Being Mightily Used by God”.

Here are a few of those secrets:

~“Make and keep the Lord as #1 in your heart, life, and focus.” James 1:8

~ “Learn the Power of Prayer.” James 5:16

~ “Live and serve the Lord in His strength.” Isaiah 40:30-31

~ “Live to please Him and don’t fear what other people think of you.” Gen.17:1

One of the very special aspects of being apart of these Girls Gatherings is having sweet fellowship with one another. It is a place where you can be refreshed and encouraged as you interact with other girls who are following Jesus and are desiring to know Him more each day.

If you would like to join us in this month’s challenge, here it is:

~Talk to Jesus throughout the day!

~ Listen to His promptings!

~Purpose to glorify Jesus in all that you do and ask Him to help you not be distracted! “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17

We would encourage you to prayerfully consider joining us on the 2nd Saturday of each month at Vision of Glory church facility to seek the Lord together! We hope to see you there! Blessings to you as you seek Jesus!
